Who should stay in the US, and who should fly
If you have found a US surgeon who performs the extraction and implantation personally, and the price is manageable, staying home gives you in-person follow-up and is a sound choice. The point to check is the first one, because a high price in the US does not guarantee the surgeon holds the instruments.
If the US figure is not manageable, or you are weighing India against a Turkish package, India is the stronger option: lower cost than Turkey once unbundled, surgeon-performed, and the consultation is in English with the person who operates.

How much cheaper is India than the US for a hair transplant?
Typically US$5,000 to 15,000 cheaper for a 2,500 graft session after flights and accommodation. The figure depends on your graft count and is given in writing after assessment of your photographs.
Is a hair transplant in India safe for an American patient?
The instruments, anaesthesia and techniques are the same. The variable is who performs the procedure. At DR HAIR® India it is the surgeon, and you consult with him directly before travelling.
How long do I need to be away?
Four nights is the minimum. Seven is more comfortable given the flight length, and most patients take about ten days off including travel.
What about follow-up once I am back in the US?
Reviews are conducted over video at one, three, six and twelve months, with WhatsApp in between. Any US dermatologist can examine the scalp if you want an in-person opinion.
