What the same procedure costs in the UK

A 2,000 to 3,000 graft FUE session at a reputable UK clinic is generally quoted between £4,000 and £15,000, and the NHS does not fund the procedure at all. At DR HAIR® India the same session, performed by the surgeon rather than by technicians, falls in the range published on our cost page — around £300 to £1,400 at current exchange rates, before flights and accommodation.

Even after a return flight and a week in a good hotel, the total is usually a third or less of the UK figure. That gap is not a difference in equipment or technique. It is a difference in what clinical time and theatre space cost in the two countries.

Why UK patients choose India over Turkey

Turkey is the default suggestion in the UK, and the packages look attractive. The recurring complaint from patients who return to British clinics for repair is the same: a visiting surgeon designed the hairline, and technicians did the extraction and implantation for the entire day.

Getting here from the UK

Direct flights from London Heathrow, Gatwick, Birmingham and Manchester reach Delhi in about eight and a half hours, and there are several a day. Most UK patients consult and operate at the Delhi clinic in Rajouri Garden, which is about 40 minutes from Indira Gandhi International Airport.

If you prefer the main clinic in Jaipur, it is a 50-minute onward flight, or a comfortable four to five hours by train or car. Many UK patients combine the trip with a few days in Jaipur, which is on the tourist circuit for good reason.

India is four and a half hours ahead of British Summer Time, so a video consultation at 5 pm Indian time is 12:30 pm in the UK — easy to fit into a lunch break.

Visa

UK passport holders apply for an Indian e-Visa online. A tourist e-Visa is sufficient for a consultation and a procedure; an e-Medical Visa is available where a longer stay is planned. Approval usually takes three to four working days, so apply once your dates are confirmed. If you hold an OCI card, no visa is needed.

How many nights to plan

Four nights is the minimum. Day one is consultation and planning, day two is the procedure, day three is the first wash and review, and you fly on day four or five. Seven nights is more comfortable and lets us see you twice more before you travel.

By the time you leave, the grafts are secure. Scabs clear over the following ten days, and the transplanted hair begins growing from around the third month. Reviews at one, three, six and twelve months are conducted over video from the UK.

Before you travel

Send photographs of the front, crown and donor area on WhatsApp. Dr. Bansal will reply with a realistic graft range and which technique suits your pattern of loss, followed by a written plan and a total figure. Nothing is booked until you have both. If your loss is still progressing and better managed medically for now, you will be told that rather than sold a flight.
