The closest hair transplant destination to the Gulf
Dubai and Sharjah both have direct flights to Jaipur, which take about three and a half hours; Delhi is about three and three-quarter hours. Abu Dhabi, Doha, Muscat, Riyadh and Kuwait connect directly to Delhi. This makes a Thursday-to-Monday trip realistic: fly in, consult and operate, first wash, fly home.
India is only ninety minutes ahead of the UAE, so video consultations fit into the working day at both ends, and follow-up calls are trivial to schedule.
A large share of our Gulf patients are Indian expatriates
Many patients working in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman and Kuwait are Indian nationals who prefer to have a permanent procedure done at home, where they can return for review, rather than at a clinic in the Gulf they may leave in a few years. Indian passport holders need no visa. Many time the procedure around annual leave and a family visit to Rajasthan, Delhi or Punjab.
Non-Indian residents of the UAE apply online for an Indian e-Visa, usually approved within three to four working days.
Planning the trip
The shortest workable trip is three nights: arrive, consult and plan the same afternoon, operate the next day, first wash and review the day after, and fly. Four or five nights is more comfortable. Reviews at one, three, six and twelve months are conducted over video, or in person on your next visit home.
Send photographs of the front, crown and donor area on WhatsApp first. You receive a graft range, a technique recommendation, a written plan and a total figure before booking a flight.
Heat and the Gulf climate after a transplant
Returning to summer heat in the Gulf is the one practical consideration. For the first two weeks you should avoid direct sun on the scalp and heavy sweating. We advise a loose hat outdoors, air-conditioned travel, and no gym or sauna until day fourteen. Patients who work outdoors are advised to schedule the procedure during the cooler months or a period of leave.
